Profile
A ‘very very special batsman’, Laxman is the man to watch when he is at his sublime best. He made his debut way back in 1996 against South Africa. Although considered a veteran now, he has been unable to cement his place in the side. For his excellent wrist work on the leg side, Laxman is often compared with his idol Mohammad Azharuddin. The naturally-gifted batsman played a miraculous knock of 281 runs against Australia to steer India to a famous win at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He possesses the quality to hit the same ball on either the leg side or off side, thus making him dangerous when in supreme form. The only disappointment for the Hyderabad-born batsman until now will be that of not playing for India in the World Cup. He is one batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to have dominated Australia the most. The Kangaroos even went on to say they did not know where to bowl to Laxman. Sadly, he hasn't quite managed the consistency that could have turned him into a batting great.
