Profile
As a teenager, Ravi Rampaul first grabbed eyeballs with some sizzling performances in the 2000 World Under-15 Challenge, followed by some impressive performances for the West Indies Under-19 sides and club Trinidad and Tobago.
Rampaul ODI debuted against Zimbabwe in 2003, and though he continued to remain steady and economical with his performances, the lack of wickets was slowly becoming a cause of concern. Nevertheless, with lack of bowling options West Indies continued to persist with him but unfortunately for the pacer, in mid-2004, shin splits caused him to be sidelined for more than a year.
Rampaul had to wait for three long years to make a return and it was an eventful one as he rocked England with a 4-wicket haul at Birmingham in only his second game after comeback, along with being named in the T20I squad for the World Twenty20. Thereafter, inconsistency and some mediocre performances meant that he continued to remain in and out of the West Indian side. With a neat line and length, he is also a fine exponent of the bouncer and yorker but lacks pace and swing to trouble quality opposition. Rampaul was grabbed by the Bangalore in 2013 for the sixth IPL season.
Fast Facts
