Profile
Another of the prospects for Australia's bowling line-up, Peter Siddle is supposed to have what it takes to break into the first team. In the first unofficial Test against India A, he bowled after the lead fast bowling-pair of Doug Bollinger and Ashley Noffke, and bowled 15 overs for 1 wicket. Even though his strike-rate wasn't great, it was his control that made people sit up and accept him as a true challenger. It has been to Australia's advantage that they can have a good look at Siddle and Bollinger while their top three fast bowlers are still in prime form. If anything, this is a good learning trip for the younger bowlers while Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark get preference. Unlike in the spin department, the pace-bowling selections have not been as talked about since the newer faces have a strong core team to fall back on.A right-arm medium-pacer who took 33 wickets in the last domestic season from five matches, Siddle had been riddled with a shoulder problem for some time. He had a reconstruction a few months back. After his return he did enough to warrant a place in the Australia A squad and, subsequently, the senior squad to India. As it is, he is just a few injuries or poor forms away from playing a Test match.
