Profile

Voted Bangladesh sportsman of the year in 2003 as well as the country’s cricketer of the year for 2004/5.

His first two scoring strokes in Test cricket against India, at Dhaka, in November 2000 were a four and a six and he hit 111 batting at number 9 in a Test against the West Indies at St Lucia in May 2004.

His 77 against Kenya in May 1998, at Hyderabad, was instrumental in Bangladesh's first ODI win.
