Ian Healy played for a transitional Aussie team. The pint sized wicket keeper was known for his astute keeping skills and nasal chants of “Bowling Warnie”.
Healy made his debut against Pakistan in 1988 after playing just six first-class matches, picked ahead of the well established Rod Marsh. The decision received flak from all corners but the combative keeper held on to prove people wrong. His greatest performances came towards the second half of his career. In 1992-93, he took 52 catches and stumped 10 batsmen; and also scored his maiden Test century against England. As time passed by, Healy became a very important part of the Aussie batting line up giving the lower middle order much needed stability. In the absence of Mark Taylor, he captained the team for eight ODIs.
With the emergence of Adam Gilchrist and poor form, Healy called it quits in 1999. The Australian Cricket Board chose him as the wicketkeeper of the 20th Century. Post retirement Healy took up commentary.

- Ian Healy was the first wicket-keeper to get past Rod Marsh’s dismissal tally of 355 in 104 tests. He himself has effected 395 dismissals and has been surpassed only by Adam Gilchrist and Mark Boucher.
