Profile
Derek de Boorder is a wicket-keeper batsman, born in Hastings. He started his career with Auckland in the year 2005-06 and made his List A debut in 2007. Just after a solitary limited over match with Auckland he grabbed the opportunity to play for Otago as Gareth Hopkins announced to play for Auckland and leave Otago. With a lot of time spent in the New Zealand Cricket Academy he improved his skills behind the stumps and was a part of the Emerging Players squad in 2005. In the absence of Brendon McCullum he made his first-class debut in 2007. He also played for New Zealand A against India A in September 2012 and made few fifties along with good keeping behind the stumps. The uncapped player finally got a national call-up when he was included in New Zealand’s T20I squad for the series against South Africa.
