A right-hand batsman from Bengal, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala announced himself in first-class cricket with a century on his debut Under-16 match. At number 3, Abhishek possesses the potential of a technically perfect batsman and stroke playing ability. He impressed the selectors with his form in his first Ranji Trophy season of 2005-06, which then called for his selection in the Duleep Trophy of 2006-07.
He joined the rebel league in 2007 and gave swashbuckling performances. After the closure of the league, he joined the Rajasthan for the IPL. He was then signed by the Pune, a newly formed franchise in the fourth IPL edition in 2011 before being bought by the Hyderabad in the fifth season the following year.
