Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 114.09 points down to stand at19, 466.23. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 44.35 points down to stand at 5,894.45. Exide Industries Ltd. and Strides Arcolab Ltd. were among the top gainers with an increase of 5.65percent and 3.95percent along with Essar Oil Ltd. and Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. with an increase of 3.30percent and 2.82percent respectively, while the top losers include Strides Ambuja Cements Ltd. and Ashok Leyland Ltd. with a decrease of 5.32percent and 5.22percent along with Manappuram Finance Ltd. and Adani Enterprises Ltd. with a decrease 4.73percent and 4.58percent at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 113.15 points at 10,825.67, while the banking sector is down 87.47 points at 14,095.20 and the realty sector is down 25.91 points at 2,152.79.The Indian currency is down 0.72percent at Rs 53.60 per dollar. less
