On the occasion of the 64th Republic Day of the country, People in Kashmir faced the brunt as the separatist leaders called for a shutdown. The leader of hardliner faction of the Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani had called for complete shutdown in Srinagar. All shops, business establishments, schools, colleges, transportation and government offices remained closed. In an attempt to avert any untoward situation, the authorities have deployed police and Para Military forces at vital places across the city. Kashmir, the trigger for two of the three wars between India and Pakistan, is claimed by both countries but ruled by them only in part. less
