Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today visited the Buddhist holy shrine of the Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar, as part of his special pilgrimage visit to the country. The Sri Lankan President visited the famous temple along with Bihar's chief minister Nitish Kumar. Rajapaksa will also be visiting the famous Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, before leaving on February 09. Meanwhile in the national capital, MDMK chief Vaiko and his supporters were detained after they tried to march towards the Prime Minister's residence to protest Rajapaksa's visit. Vaiko and scores of supporters have been protesting at Jantar Mantar since morning demanding that India close down the Sri Lankan High Commission in the capital.
