Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced the new Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy at the 100th Indian Science Congress in Kolkata, laying the roadmap for use of science, research and innovation to shape the future of an aspiring nation. Singh added that technological changes typically emanate from established structures, and may at times reinforce them and inhibit the advancement of equity and equality. Singh also said that transformation of agriculture should be the top priority of public policies, including science and technology. The Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2013 released aspires to position India among the top five global scientific powers by the year 2020.
