In a blow to developmental activities, Maoists set ablaze road construction machines in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, a day before the country's 64th Republic Day. After setting the machines on fire, the Maoists left behind leaflets quoting their involvement in the act. The Superintendent of Police, Lohardaga, Jitendra Kumar Singh said that no threat calls were made to the workers or the contractor. Three machines were set on fire, leading to a loss of around 60-70 lakhs rupees, as per the contractor. Singh said investigations are on and raids are being carried out to arrest the absconding rebels.
