In a recent development, veteran sports administrator, Randhir Singh has withdrawn his nomination for the post of President of the Indian Olympic Association today. Reportedly, Randhir has said that he had been "pained" by the "slanderous campaign" that had been carried out against him, that had prompted him to pull out of the elections. Singh has reportedly alleged that his rivals had been raising the issue that an IOC member cannot contest the elections, but there were no provisions in the IOA Constitution which barred an IOC member from contesting.
