Coming under attack from all corners over the spate in women oriented crimes and recent barbaric gang rape that jolted the nation, the Congress party said that the central government is determined to formulate strong punishment for rapists. While addressing mediapersons in New Delhi, Congress spokesperson Renuka Chaudhary said that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi was spearheading the process of bringing in stringent punishment for rapists. She hinted that the government is considering chemical castration for rapists. Meanwhile launching a salvo at the government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded for stronger laws in light of the Delhi gang rape and numerous other sexual crimes against women across the country.
