A teenaged girl set on fire by a stalker in Uttar Pradesh succumbed to her injuries today, four days after being admitted to an Aligarh hospital with nearly 90 per cent burns. The girl was set on fire by a middle-aged person Arjun, whose advances she had turned down. He tried luring her with money at her home in Hathras town. The girl's father Ashok, mourning the loss, said that the police had not taken action against the accused in spite of complaints being made against him. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, said that the government would punish the officials who are found guilty of failing in their duty in the case. The state's police establishment has said that a murder trial would be initiated against the accused.
