Supporters of the Mamata Banerjee led-Trinamool Congress and Communist Party of India - Marxist clashed here in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The Left supporters were headed for a rally in Kolkata, in protest against the attack on CPM's Canning East MLA Abdur Rezzak Mollah, allegedly by TMC workers. Reportedly, CPM supporters were attacked with bombs and firearms and their vehicles were ransacked by TMC workers. The TMC, on the other hand, alleged that the Left supporters attacked their rally while passing that area. Thousands of Left supporters were headed for the South 24 Parganas district headquarters in Alipore for their protest demonstration.
