On the second day of the Congress's Chintan Shivir in Jaipur today, voices pitching for Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate for 2014 general elections grew louder and clear. Party insiders and confidants say Gandhi is looking beyond the government's present troubles, and his strategy of building support from the ground guarantees a long-term future for Congress and, by extension, for himself. Another Congress lawmaker, Jai Prakash Agarwal said that Rahul Gandhi was fit for taking the responsibility as he had worked extensively in rural areas. Congress leader Girija Vyas also echoed similar sentiments. Earlier on Friday, the BJP had mocked the 'brainstorming session' of the Congress. In response, senior Congress leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar said that there was internal divide in the BJP and they were fighting like 'cats and dogs'.
