Welcoming the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Mohammed Afzal Guru, the BJP today said that it was a much awaited and much wanted decision. However, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government should explain the undue delay in executing the death sentence against Afzal Guru. Meanwhile according to officials the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist will be buried inside Tihar Jail itself. The Supreme Court gave guru the death sentence in 2004. His hanging was earlier scheduled for October 2006, but was suspended or stayed after his wife had filed a mercy petition on his behalf.
