While the nation is demanding capital punishment in the Delhi gang rape case, a Sessions court in Bareilly has awarded death sentence to a man for raping and killing a Dalit girl. Public prosecutor Manish Tiyagi told that being a rarest of the rare case accused Ashok was given the death penalty. The seven-year-old victim was raped and murdered by the accused in Bhuta area of Bareilly in May 2009. After committing the crime, Ashok had buried the body of the girl under hay in Budhauli village. Later the body was recovered and a case was lodged against him.
