Issue of war crime has always been a matter of concern between Bangladesh and Pakistan and absence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the D-8 Summit recently held in Islamabad indicates towards the same. In Bangladesh the news is that she did not attend the summit because Pakistan has refused to apologize for the war crimes of 1971, while in Pakistan foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that Bangladesh had never asked for an apology and Sheikh Hasina was suffering from an eye ailment due to which her doctors advised her not to travel. As general elections in Bangladesh draw near, Hasina has become more vociferous about demanding an apology from Pakistan for the 1971 atrocities.
