Spiritual leader Asaram Bapu today denied making controversial comment about the deceased Delhi rape victim. According to local media, Bapu had allegedly said that the woman was also partially responsible for the attack. He further added that the assaulters would have spared her if she had called them brothers and begged them to stop it. It could have saved her dignity and life. The spiritual leader today claimed that media had distorted his statement. The spiritual guru's remark comes at a time when the entire nation is mourning the death of the 23-year-old woman who died in a Singapore hospital 13 days after the gang rape. The National Commission for Women chairperson Mamata Sharma also said that the comment was insensitive toward girls.
