Wade confirms ticket for Indian tour with ton against Lanka at SCG

Sydney, Jan 6(ANI): Mathew Wade has secured his spot in the Australian Test team for the upcoming tour to India following a bold century against Sri Lanka on day four of the final Test match at the SCG, according to cricket writer, Malcolm Conn.

"Matthew Wade's bold century at the SCG yesterday has reinforced his selection ahead of Brad Haddin and endorsed the wicket-keeper's move up to number six," Conn wrote in his column for News.com.au.

"The gloveman's second century in his ninth Test has opened up significant possibilities as Australia prepares for life after Mike Hussey going into tough tours of India and England this year," he added.

"Wade now has as many hundreds as vice-captain Shane Watson at a significantly better average, 46, after his unbeaten 102 on the third day of the last Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday," he said/

"That Wade looked increasingly accomplished in the top six means the confidence to choose a bowling all-rounder will be significantly enhanced," he concluded. (ANI)
