Islamabad, June 20 (ANI): US Secretary of State John Kerry will not be visiting Pakistan during his trip to Asia.
Kerry instead will be visiting India during his trip that is beginning this week, a State Department spokesperson said.
The United States said Kerry was keen to visit Pakistan soon and his skipping Pakistan during his Asia trip was absolutely not a snub to the key South Asian country.
According to the Nation, spokesperson Jen Psaki said the top American diplomat was not going there in coming weeks because he wanted to spend sufficient time in Islamabad to discuss the wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries.
Psaki said Kerry planned to visit Pakistan as soon as his schedule permits.
She rejected suggestions that Kerry's decision not to visit Islamabad was a snub to Pakistan. (ANI)
