New York, June 18 (ANI): Thailand's national Buddhism body is keeping an eye on monks nationwide for any inappropriate behavior after a video emerged on YouTube showing Buddhist monks flying on a private jet.
The video, attracted criticism from Buddhists nationwide, showed one of the monks wearing stylish aviator sunglasses, carrying a luxury brand travel bag, and a pair of modern wireless headphones, the New York Post reported.
Nopparat Benjawatananun, director general of Office of National Buddhism said that the agency saw the video this year and had warned the monks from a monastery in Thailand's northeast not to repeat the lavish behavior.
Nopparart admitted that the Buddhist monks in the video were acting inappropriately, not composed and not adhering to Buddha's teachings of simplicity and self -restraint. (ANI)
