Calcutta (The Telegraph): Senior-most pro Sachin Tendulkar, who was struck by a fiery Brett Lee on his helmet during Sunday’s tri-series match in Brisbane, may undergo an MRI scan on Monday.
“There’s a swelling above Sachin’s right eye... The area has been iced... He’s in a bit of discomfort and could be sent for an MRI scan, in the morning, if he continues to feel the same way,” a member of the team management told The Telegraph.
Speaking around 11.30 pm local time, the gentleman added: “Right now, one can’t say if Sachin will be available for Tuesday’s match against Sri Lanka.”
Sachin was struck on the last ball of the fourth over and fell to comeback man and MoM Ben Hilfenhaus on the fourth ball of the very next over. He scored three.
The India XI will definitely see changes as captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has (again) been suspended for one match and, so, Parthiv Patel has to play.
Moreover, if Virender Sehwag is to be the stand-in captain, then he must return to the XI. Should Sachin be advised rest, then it will be a straightforward ‘switch’ between the two.
