Your skin personality

The way you describe your skin can say a lot about who you think you are. A recent online survey, conducted by a leading skincare brand, which had over 8,000 participants from Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil, Russia, China, and the USA, concluded that a person's view of their skin also describes the way they perceive themselves. The five broad categories are:

Thinkers

For "thinkers", skin is just a layer. They mostly describe their skin type as normal. They use practical skincare products such as deodorants and sunscreen. They are relaxed about the changes in their skin, such as wrinkles and pigmentation. This group can be pragmatic and introverted - people who feel secure in their immediate personal environment and are happy to be alone.

Seekers

They often don't have healthy, balanced skin. "Seekers" complain of blackheads and impurities more than people in the other groups. They are ambivalent people. On the one hand, they like to follow their intuition; on the other, they long for affirmation and want to be recognised.

Doers

They have a relatively easy-going attitude towards their skin. Mostly, "doers" describe their skin as oily or shiny. They tend to use appropriate skin products to solve their skin problems. They veer towards products that claim to be "highly effective", and work on improving their appearance. Such people like to be in control of their destiny and are performance-oriented. How they impact others is important to them and they see new situations as welcome challenges.

Helpers

For "helpers", the skin is predominantly a "communication organ" that enables them to interact with other people through touch. This group tends to have sensitive skin that is prone to irritation and allergic reactions. "Helpers" prefer products with special fragrances and unusual ingredients. They like their skin products to enhance their emotional well-being. Such people have the most "emotional" of all skin personalities. They are driven by emotions and intuition. They are in control of their destiny and yet are spontaneous individuals who are not afraid of new things.

Moralists

They don't place much importance on beauty and skin conditions. However, "moralists" use a lot of skincare products. They say that they have dry, sensitive or combination skin - during the survey, they were the only group of statistical relevance in describing their skin as dull, prone to dark rings under the eyes and an uneven tone. They walk a tightrope between their emotions and ideals. They passively observe the world. "Moralists" are the most introverted of all skin personalities. They tend to avoid things so that they won't encounter frustration or disappointment.
