Kuala Lumpur, Jan 16 (IANS) India's top badminton players Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap entered the second round of the Malaysia Open Superseries here Wednesday.
Top seed Saina dispatched Gu Juan of Singapore 21-12, 21-15 in 28 minutes. The World No. 3 meets Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin in the second round Thursday.
P.V. Sindhu, however, went down fighting against Dane Tine Baun to exit the competition. The Indian lost 16-21, 21-18, 17-21.
In the men's singles, Kashyap beat Japan's Takuma Ueda 21-14, 16-21, 21-5 in a match lasting almost an hour. The World No. 11 next faces sixth seed Jan O Jorgensen.
R.M.V. Gurusaidut trounced compatriot Sourabh Varma 21-11, 21-14 to advance while Ajay Jayaram lost to Malaysian Daren Liew 15-21, 11-21.
