Chennai: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and senior-most pro Sachin Tendulkar never actually sat down with Mansur Ali Khan 'Tiger' Pataudi to discuss cricket, but both felt enriched after the Board-instituted inaugural Memorial Lecture.
Dhoni and Sachin briefly spoke to The Telegraph on Wednesday evening, after Sunil Gavaskar delivered the Lecture at the Taj Coromandel.
The following are excerpts
DHONI: I found the Lecture revealing... From what was said, our cricket was going in only one direction till Pataudi changed things... I was born (in 1981) much after he'd stopped playing, so I didn't get the chance to idolise him.
SACHIN: Having this Lecture was wonderful... I, at least, learnt quite a few things about Tiger. I think all of us (in the team) learnt something... Somehow, over the years, there was no occasion to talk cricket with him.
