Playing in Australia helped, says Saha

Bengal’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha said the tour of Australia was a great learning experience for him.

New Delhi (The Telegraph): Bengal’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who scored an unbeaten century (100 batting) against North Zone on the first day of the Duleep Trophy semi-final, said he was looking forward to scoring some more runs when play resumes on Sunday.

“I think if we can bat patiently and spend some time there, we would be able to put up a big score on the board,” he said.

Saturday’s knock was the sixth first class century in Saha’s career and his second of the season. “I can’t say whether it was the best ton of my career… I have not given a thought to it. But it will certainly remain a special one,” he said.

The Bengal player, however, felt that the North Zone bowlers did a good job on the batsman-friendly wicket.

Saha achieved another milestone of completing 2000 first class runs when he reached 16, on Saturday. The tour of Australia, he said, was also a great learning experience for him.

“Playing in Australia certainly helped,” he said. "There you get to play on bouncy wickets. It always helps to improve one’s batting quality,” Saha observed.
