Lahore, Nov. 7 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will send a security team to India later this month to assess the arrangements made by the Indian cricket board for the Pak-India cricket revival series set to be held from December 25, 2012 to January 6, 2013.
""We have full confidence in the security and arrangements being made by the Indian board but the delegation will be going there to take stock and coordinate things with them. The security team will comprise around three to four members to visit Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi to assess the security arrangements to be taken by the Indian government and cricket board," The Nation quoted PCB chief Zaka Ashraf, as saying.
"It is a great development and we are confident the revival of bilateral ties will also help improve relations between the two neighbouring countries and increase people to people contact," he added.
This would be the first series between the two neighbours in the last five years after cricketing ties were broken following the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has assured three-tier security for the Pakistani players after receiving threats from Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray who is opposing the series.
Though none of the five matches will be held in Mumbai or any city in Maharashtra, the home ministry has sensitized states to take utmost precaution at all venues where matches are to be played.
Security arrangements at all venues will be made by BCCI in coordination with the respective state police.
The series will comprise three ODIs and two T20s. The ODIs will be played in Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi and the T20 games will be held in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. (ANI)
