Sydney, Aug 24 (ANI): The coach of the Australian women's cricket team has put the heat on strike bowler Ellyse Perry, saying that she is aware that she needs to step up and shine for the Southern Stars in the third one-day match of the women's Ashes series.
According to News.com.au, Tim Coyle urged Australia to start strongly on Sunday at Hove in the third one-day match in the series, as England has leveled the series 1-1 with a 51-run in the second ODI on Friday.
Although Perry has had little success with the ball this tour, Coyle however, said that he believed that Perry can turn around her performance and challenge herself to get her new bowling sorted out in the match, adding that he and the entire team has backed her to lead from the front in both the formats.
According to Coyle, Perry has admitted that her performance has not been good enough in the series, although he has no doubt that she can turn it back as she is a very good bowler when she gets it right and has the skills to apply her knowledge with the ball.
Admitting that England had been better during the opening overs of each match, Coyle also said that Australia needs to get better in that area, adding that as they have good spinners and an-almost perfect fielding, they just need to show more consistency for the game. (ANI)
