Islamabad, June 24 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced former Pervez Musharraf would be tried for treason under article 6 of the Constitution.
While addressing the National Assembly (NA), Sharif said the former military ruler had committed treason by abrogating the Constitution and he should be tried under the law.
According to Dawn News, Sharif said Musharraf would be tried for imposing a state of emergency in the country in 2007 while also suspending the Constitution.
The government will submit its written stance in the Musharraf treason case currently heard in the Supreme Court through Attorney General Munir A. Malik, the report added. (ANI)
