So Lionel Messi can play cricket. In this advertisement for a company manufacturing nutritional supplements, the Argentine can be seen playing the gentleman's game in Barcelona’s colours. Against a challenger kitted out in yellow, the pint-sized superstar is shown batting first. Sans any protective equipment, Messi starts by hitting the ball for a four on the off-side, with what is clearly a solid bottom hand. The next ball goes for six between long on and mid-wicket. Messi’s score matches the number on his jersey.
Now it’s his turn to bowl.
The 25-year old bowls from both sides of the wicket, only to be smashed for two sixes by the batsman. He does look out of place, to a bunch of his fans watch from the fence. Time for the surprise.
