Guwahati, Feb. 12: Genesis Club and Royal XI today registered emphatic victories in their respective matches of the Servo 20th Guwahati Challenge Trophy cricket tournament, organised by River Rine Club, at Judges Field here.

While Genesis inflicted an 80-run defeat on Chandmari Sports Club in the morning match, Royal prevailed over hosts River Rine by four wickets.

Put in to bat, Genesis posted 170 for four in the 20 overs and Chandmari were all out for 90 in 14.4 overs.

Manashjyoti Gogoi topscored for Genesis with 76, laced with eight hits to the ropes and three sixes.

Neeraj Tiwari (26, 4x4) and Manoj Malo (23, 4x2) were the other notable scorers.

Rakesh Nath, Hitesh Adhikari and Tranjing Gogoi of Chandmari took a wicket each, conceding 25 runs per head.

Abhijeet Sarkar (28, 4x4), Tridip Deka (15, 4x1, 6x1) and Hitesh Adhikari (10, 4x1) were the main scorers for Chandmari.

Sanjib Dutta and Debojit Das of Genesis took three wickets each, giving away 23 and 28 runs respectively. Bichitra Baruah also claimed two for 18.

In the afternoon match, River Rine elected to bat and were all out for 115 in 20 overs. Royal reached 119 for six in 17.1 overs.

Raj Thapa (36, 4x2, 6x2) was the topscorer for River Rine while Manash Das (18, 4x2, 6x1) and Ranjit Changmai (17, 4x3) were some of the other notable scorers for the side.

Ashish Dwivedi and Abhishek Rajput of Royal took three wickets each, conceding 18 and 24 runs respectively as teammate Nitul Ali accounted for two for 14.

For Royal, Abhishek Rajput remained not out on 53 (4x8, 6x1) and Bitul Das chipped in with 14 (4x2).

Prasanta Haloi and Manash Das of River Rine picked up two wickets each for 11 and 29 runs respectively.

In tomorrow's matches, Navajyoti Club will meet Corner Kick and Bud Cricket Club face Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education.
