Hyderabad, Sept 23 (ANI): Family members and YSR Congress workers on Monday rejoiced after YS Jaganmohan Reddy was granted bail in a disproportionate assets case, 16 months after he was arrested.
Y S Vijayamma, Jagan's mother and party's honorary president, heaved a sigh of relief, and thanked God for her son's return.
"After so many months he got bail, God is great," she said.
Jagan Reddy's wife Bharathi Reddy expressed her happiness, and said that everyone is eagerly waiting to meet him tomorrow.
"I am very happy. He got bail after almost 16 months. All of us are very happy and we all are waiting for tomorrow," she said.
Delighted after hearing the news of her brother's bail, Y S Sharmila said the wait has been very long.
"It is absolutely thrilling. The wait has been very long. It is not bailing out one person, but it is bailing out crores of people in Andhra Pradesh," she said.
She further alleged that the Congress is responsible for his hardship, and added he was targeted for political gains.
"This is the doing of Congress. Jagan was targeted for political gain. They saw him as a threat to Congress. What Congress has done to YSR family is unforgivable," she said.
Meanwhile, Jagan Reddy's supporters celebrated by bursting firecrackers and exchanging sweets, minutes after he was granted bail.
YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was granted bail 16 months after he was arrested.
Reddy, who was arrested on 27th May last year by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on corruption charges, was under judicial remand and lodged at the Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad.
The CBI has accused Reddy of getting huge investments from various individuals and firms into his businesses as quid pro quo for the favours granted by the Andhra Pradesh Government that was headed by his father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy before his death in a helicopter crash in September 2009.
