Sydney, Dec 27(ANI): Cricket Australia (CA) has hit Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat coach Darren Lehmann with an official reprimand for controversially questioning West Indies all rounder Marlon Samuels' bowling action, which is a breach of conduct.
Lehmann was found guilty of breaching CA's code of behaviour following a hearing via a phone link up, and for his troubles, Lehmann received a 3000 dollar fine suspended for two years, the Age reports.
Lehmann raised the ire of CA for questioning Samuels' fast-paced off-spinners, which led to the West Indian being banned from the Indian Premier League earlier this year, in Brisbane's five-wicket loss to the Melbourne Renegades last weekend, it added.
As a result, CA deemed the former Test batsman had breached rule nine i.e. detrimental public comment in CA's code of behaviour, the paper reported.
The rule states players or officials must not denigrate or criticise another player or denigrate or criticise an official, umpire, referee or team, the paper further said. (ANI)
