British teen killed as police chase suspect car

London, Jan 8 (IANS) A 13-year-old girl in Britain died when a car being chased by police ploughed into her family's car.

The incident occurred while the teen was in a Volkswagen Polo car with her father, mother and four-year-old brother just when a suspect Peugeot 308 car, being chased by a police patrol car, rammed into the family's car, Daily Express reported.

Police were chasing the suspect car after it triggered a camera device which recognises vehicle number plates linked to alleged crimes.

The girl was declared dead at the scene despite a desperate attempt by paramedics to save her. Police finally arrested the driver of the suspect car.

He was due to appear in custody via videolink at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court.
