London, July 22 (ANI): Former England skipper Bob Willis has argued that modern day batsmen are in too much of a hurry while coming out to bat in Test cricket and thinks Kevin Pietersen should have been sent to the guillotine for the way he got himself out in the second innings at Lord's.
According to the Daily Star, Willis said that the batting has been a real chamber of horrors and both teams have been guilty of giving wickets away cheaply and easily, adding that people were in too much of a rush, getting out in terrible ways.
The former player said that in a five-day Test, each ball should be played on its merit and there was no need to play big, expansive shots, especially when it was a perfectly normal Test match with no demons in it.
Pietersen has scored just 85 runs in four innings since his return to the Test side, averaging just over 20 and looking in a hurry to get on with things when he walks out to bat, the report said. (ANI)
