Assets case

Bangalore, Dec. 24: Police searched two houses of BJP Karnataka chief and deputy chief minister K.S. Eshwarappa today, as more graft-related trouble loomed on the party ahead of elections early next year.

The search yielded "37kg of silverware, 1.9kg of gold, Rs 10.9 lakh in cash and several documents", a police source said.

A case of alleged disproportionate assets has been registered against the BJP leader, his son K.E. Kantesh and daughter-in-law.

Eshwarappa joins nearly 20 other party legislators who are facing graft charges.
