Washington, Sept. 3 (ANI): Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has called on the United States to give proof that chemical weapons were used by his government.
In an interview with a French publication, Assad said that the United States and France have failed to give any proof the such weapons were used.
According to Politico, in an exclusive interview with Le Figaro, Assad said that whoever has accused him of using chemical weapons must offer proof.
He challenged the United States and France to offer a single proof. President Barack Obama and French President Francois Hollande have been unableto give any proof.
Assad did not say whether his army has chemical weapons, but he did question the idea of Syria using such weapons in a place its own soldiers could be affected, the report said.
He also warned Western military strikes will risk igniting a 'regional war', as the United States could strike militarily against the Assad regime over alleged chemical weapons use. (ANI)
