Jammu, Aug. 3 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) chairman Aslam Goni on Saturday expressed his disappointment at off-spinner Parvez Rasool not being included in any of the five ODI games against Zimbabwe, and expressed hope that he is given a chance in the future matches.
"We were very happy when we got the news of his selection in Team India. We wanted him to play, but it does not depend on what we want. These are technical matters. The team's coach, manager and captain take a final call (on the paying eleven). Definitely, we are not feeling good," said Goni.
"But it can't be helped. Let us hope that he plays better matches in the future," he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister of State for Human Resource and Development (HRD) Shashi Tharoor have also expressed their displeasure as 24-year-old Rasool failed to make the playing XI in the fifth ODI against Zimbabwe.
Rasool, who made his first-class debut for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2008-09 season, has played 17 first-class matches, scoring 1003 runs and taking 46 wickets.
The off-spinner, who is the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to be inducted in Team India, was named in the India A squad for a tour game against Australia in February this year. He played his first IPL season for Pune Warriors. (ANI)
