London, Dec 14(ANI): Fast bowler James Anderson took three wickets on day two of the final Test match in Nagpur to leave India reeling at 87/4 at stumps in reply to England's first innings total of 330.

England is closing in on a 3-1 kill, with India trailing by 243 runs in their first innings with six wickets left, the Telegraph reports

After England had posted a highly presentable total of 330, on a slow pitch and outfield, thanks in large part to Joe Root's adhesiveness, Anderson set to work, taking three wickets for only 24 runs.

Anderson first took Virender Sehwag's middle stump out of the ground with his second ball to him.

If anything could crown knocking out Sehwag's middle stump, it was knocking out Sachin Tendulkar's middle stump in his second spell.

The ball seamed back, and kept low, and Tendulkar got a bit of inside edge on it and it was the ninth time that Anderson had dismissed Tendulkar, more than anybody else in Test cricket.

Anderson's third wicket was Gautam Gambhir who again gave his wicket away when set, with a loose drive.

The pitch in the last session began to turn as well, so even if Anderson does not keep on striking with the aid of up-and-down bounce, Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar will.

England's bowlers could afford to go on the attack because Root's 73 had been a masterpiece of defence.

Root added 103 with Matt Prior in the sixth wicket stand that was the crux of England's innings.

Swann was more fluent than any of England's specialist batsmen and used his feet to ondrive two sixes, one off Jadeja (after he had bowled 36 overs for 52 runs) and one off Piyush Chawla, who took four wickets. (ANI)
