Johannesburg, Nov 20 (ANI): Proteas Test batsman Alviro Petersen has launched a foundation to create better opportunities for the next generation of South African cricketers.
According to Sport24, the Alviro Petersen Cricket School would give young cricketers, from underprivileged backgrounds, the opportunity to live their dreams of playing cricket for South Africa.
Petersen created a partnership with 2nd Chance, a registered non-profit organisation, to assist with drug abuse and rehabilitation and to focus on abuse against women and children, the report said.
The foundation would look at other projects across South Africa assist in making a difference in other schools where possible, the report added.
The trustees of the foundation were Robert Hodson (chairperson), Petersen (founding member) Steve Easton, Arthur Turner and MC Dryer (auditor), the report further said.
The Foundation aimed to be fully operational next year, according to the report. (ANI)
