Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained all their players ahead of the October 31 deadline set by the Indian Premier League to name the players whose contracts will be extended for the 2013 season.
No big Indian names have been dropped from their squads though there was speculation that Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja may be relieved by the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings respectively. Current champions Kolkata Knight Riders have let go only Jayadev Unadkat among their capped players.
The Hyderabad franchise which has been bought over by the Sun TV Network has released 13 of the players who represented the Deccan Chargers. Prominent among them are Trinidad & Tobago’s Darren Bravo, Australia’s Daniel Christian and India discard Manpreet Gony. Kings XI Punjab have let to England T20 captain Stuart Broad.
The IPL trading window opens on November 19. The released players along with other uncapped players can be signed by teams under their existing salary balances (mentioned below).
Among the internationals relieved by Chennai are Australia’s T20 captain George Bailey and pacer Doug Bollinger. They have also let go Joginder Sharma, the all-rounder whose best days on the cricket field coincided with MS Dhoni’s rise.
