Shane Watson has been the key many Rajasthan Royals wins over the six IPL seasons, but hasn’t been needed much for the last couple of games due to classy performances of Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane.
After the Royals’ victory over the Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday, Watson spoke at length about what Dravid meant to him and the team.
Rahul is batting extraordinarily.
He certainly has a long, long way to go in his career the way he is batting at the moment. I think just about world cricket, which never thought that Rahul Dravid could take down bowlers like he has. It’s been amazing to watch him,” Watson said.
“Rahul as a person is one of the most amazing people that I have met in my life. He is always going to do an amazing job as a captain, certainly. He has got utmost respect from all the players, from all the support staff.” Watson said the environment Dravid and coach Paddy Upton had created was now paying dividends. “They have both created a successful environment. We have more depth in our squad as compared to what we had the previous two years.”
