Green Park (Modi Stadium)

Situated close to the river Ganges, Kanpur’s Green Park stadium, situated close to the river Ganges, accommodates 39,255 spectators. One of the most polluted city in the country, it was established in 1945 and has been witness to dull and dry matches because of the lacklustre pitches. The floodlights at the ground lie very low and were used for the first time in 2007 in a Test match between India and South Africa. It hosted its first test from January 12-14, 1952 between India and England and the first ODI was played between India and Sri Lanka on December 24, 1986. But this ground will best be remembered for Mohammad Azharuddin’s last of his three consecutive hundreds during his sensational debut. More recently, Shahid Afridi blitzed a 45-ball century at this very ground.
