Oz pacer Bollinger confident of scaling new heights

Mohali/Hyderabad, Nov.4 (ANI): Australian left-arm fast bowler Doug Bollinger says that after his three wicket haul in the fourth one-day international against India in Mohali, Chandigarh, he is confident about scaling new heights in international cricket.

A solid Champions League Twenty20 campaign for NSW was not enough to get the left-armer picked for the opening two matches against India, but his subsequent bowling efforts in games three and four have seemingly made him a certain starter for the remainder of the seven-match series, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

While it would have been easy for Bollinger, in just his fifth one-day international, to lose faith after bowling so well in Delhi but going unrewarded, the 28-year-old said his confidence was high after that match.

"I spoke to [coach] Tim Nielsen after the game and just said to him I could have bowled worse and then got three-for, so that's just the nature of the beast. It's why we love and hate the game, isn't it? I'm really happy with the way I bowled in Delhi."

Bollinger's success in the past two one-day internationals has come within a fortnight of him being part of NSW's world-champion team.

As a result, the knockabout pacer agrees his international stocks have probably never been higher.

"The Champions League was a great stepping stone to this tournament because I'd bowled a bit over in Delhi and Hyderabad. I'm fit and well at the moment and I think I'm starting to climb a bit higher with my confidence in international cricket, and just in cricket in general," he said. (ANI)

i don think bollinger is going to get better. He has got wickets. But if you notice all his wickets have been on very lose deliveries.Rather you can tell that the batsman have gifted him those wickets. Sehwag's impatience, Kohli's inexperience and Dhonis overconfidence have given him those wickets. He can finish this series by bowling economically but i dont think he is going to get more wickets. I think nathen hauritz is the real threat for indians he is bowling beautifully now.

    A welcome development

We have seen the referral system tried out at Wimbledon and it worked really well. There is no reason to believe that it will not work in cricket too.

    Strauss must re-exert his authority

The tourists missed Strauss's conviction in marshalling the side in the field and his batting is always valuable because he is such a fluid player when he is in form.
