Ravichandran
Ashwin's 22 wicket in his debut series was a pleasing achievement.
It
is the most number of wickets an Indian bowler has taken in a three-Test
series.
For
most wickets in a series with more number of matches, the following bowlers
hold the record:

Key
Points
- Ashwin
is just the second bowler to take 20 or more wickets on debut against West
Indies. The first, England's Dominic Cork, took 26 in five Tests in 1995. - For
a three-match debut series, Ajantha Mendis holds the record for most wickets. The
Sri Lanka mystery spinner took 26 wickets against India - 8, 10 and 8 - in a
home series in 2008. - England
great Alec Bedser took 24 against the same opponents in a home series in 1946. - The other Indians who had impressive debuts in a
three-match series are Ravi Shastri (15 wickets in New Zealand, 1980-81) and
Venkatesh Prasad (15 in England in 1996).
